www.ushistory.com You can become a member of this, or just use it for information. The membership is free. The site focuses on events and people with special emphasis on those events related to a particular time of the year (i.e.,black history month).
http://expage.com/Teach2000 MANY links for teachers in almost all areas, subjects, etc.
www.theeducatorsnetwork.com This site did not offer much in the area of reading, but they had a lot in science and math. They had links to other sites, and included information on how to save money as a teacher, and teacher travel.
http://www.funbrain.com/ This is a great site for teachers who are looking for fun ways to enhance their lessons. If offers games in the areas of spelling, math, logic, and much more!
www.atozteacherstuff.com This is great. This has several links from lesson plans, worksheets, thematic units, and all kinds of teacher resources.

www.scholastic.com This web site can be used by the student and/or the teacher. It has a wide variety of lesson plans (including thematic units) that are printable.
http://school.discovery.com/ This site has sections covering teachers, students, and also parents. It contains links for creative ideas for learning. And it also has specifics on what can be done to help a child's grades in school.

http://www.education-world.com/ This web site is for content, subjects, reference, educators, and for support. It is very good for searching for information.
http://www.britannica.com/ This site works just like a real encyclopedia does. You do a general search, and it pulls up article after article. It also gives you links to other sites.
http://ericir.syr.edu/ This web site is good for questions, lesson plans, and mailing lists. This site talks about assessment, counseling, and has some reference aspects about laws, etc.
GOVERNMENT
www.ed.gov This web site is about the government's Department of Education. It is packed with any and all kinds of information from school jobs, school tips and plans, to the nation's report card with every subject you can imagine.
www.ed.gov/pubs/HelpingStudents/ This is a great site! It has information on how to make good, creative assessments of your students, areas on respect, and information on praise and motivation.

Special Collections
The Curriculum Collection is particularly valuable to Education majors. Materials in this collection are arranged according to a specialized classification scheme.
Call numbers
- The Curriculum Collection has its own classification system, loosely based on the Dewey Decimal System.
Education theory books
· Education theory books are methodology books, etc. that do not qualify as curriculum.
· They are classed within the general collection of the library.
Education curriculum
· Education curriculum includes actual lessons, often incorporating a variety of methods and ideas, classed by subject and publisher, i.e. Saxon math curriculum.
· They are classed in 370-375 with a special call number format:
· Always start with the prefix Curr.
· Use a class number like, 372.7
· Add the publisher's symbol, e.g. SAX
· Add the date of publication, e.g. 1999
· Add the designation to distinguish between different types of books within a set, e.g. 1-T (first grade teacher's book)
